Open Source Software
An open source ethos which embodies principles such as transparency, collaboration, and community-driven development was embraced with open arms.
To gain exposure to software-powered innovation, daqhris was an active contributor to the Free and Open Source Software Developer Conference in Brussels every year since 2020. The annual conference enabled him to stay connected with the European software developer community, despite being legally barred from university enrollment and professional employment.
As a volunteer, one of his most memorable acts was standing onstage, in front of a packed amphitheater in February 2023 while homeless in Brussels, to introduce a scientific talk on ‘Open Source Software at NASA’, presented by an American astronomer, when celebrating 25 years of open-source next to volunteering and attending peers.
In the second half of 2024, daqhris began to ingeniously craft an online artist’s book, book.awalkaday.art, which spotlights various aspects of his git-dependent artistic practice, and meets the public eye from a technical documentation platform, GitBook.
