git is a version control system that tracks changes to computer source code with speed and efficiency in a distributed way. Version control is a technique that helps maintain a record of all changes throughout the development process.

[`git` commits](https://github.com/git-guides/git-commit#git-commit) are snapshots of code changes in such a version control system at a particular point in time. Each commit captures modifications made by the developer(s), cryptographically signed for verification. They are like notarized timestamps — each edit is witnessed by a global network of servers, making the archive tamper-proof.

The creative process was treated as a series of iterative steps that rely on public `git` commits. The `awalkaday` commits were produced openly, secured with [cryptographic signatures](https://keybase.io/daqhris/graph), and organized in a linear sequence within a lightweight file.
